There are many beautiful old buildings in traditional villages and towns crying out to be lovingly renovated. This can be a wonderfully satisfying experience but there are certain necessary steps which must be taken.

Firstly, make sure that your property has clean title deeds. Your lawyer will see to this for you. He, or she, should also check the access to the property in case there are any disputes with a neighbour. Make sure that your water and electricity supply is close at hand to avoid costly connection charges.

It is best to appoint an architect to plan your renovation along with you and because of the many rules and regulations which must be met, it is quicker and cheaper to appoint a builder to carry out the work for you.
